In addition to telling you about Catherine’s Choice™ Aloe Vera, as I said last time, I want to make this blog a source of health information that you may not otherwise discover. I found some fascinating information on a subject of great interest to the elderly and to those who love them that is surprisingly appropriate as a warning to young folk as well, and even to parents of infants and anyone undergoing vaccinations.
The subject is serious neurological diseases, primarily Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, ALS (Lou Gehrig ’s disease) about which there has been a recent success in unconventional treatment. (I have covered this recently in my column “Warren’s Words” in Catherine’s Choice™, a magazine published by Aloes International, Inc. of Orlando, Florida.)
The cause of these diseases has long been a mystery. Genetics and simply aging have been suspected, but now attention has shifted to inflammation. A link between age-related neurological disorders and cardiovascular disease had been noticed.
In recent years, leading medical researchers realized that the accepted reasons for heart attacks and strokes, excess cholesterol, clogged arteries, etc., did not explain why autopsies of heart attack victims often showed no such condition. The facts did not fit the theoretical expectations. They began to realize that inflammation, often sub-clinical or too mild to be readily apparent, was the real primary cause. This lead to other conclusions, too complex for this space, but basically amounting to prolonged stress, physical or psychological, as the cause for that inflammation.
Discovery of the link between cardiovascular and neurological disorders led directly to the realization that Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s are also correlated to other
Inflammatory conditions: Diabetes, autoimmune ailments, obesity, toxic metal exposure, infections and trauma.
They have learned that no matter which of these or other conditions starts the problem, the damage to the brain is caused by activation of the brain’s immune cells, the microglia. This activation actually destroys part of the brain. This damage is, of course, permanent, although the brain retains amazing powers of recovery nevertheless.
One of the strongest links to brain damage is the all too common exposure we have to pesticides and herbicides. This exposure is the leading environmental cause of Parkinson’s, and probably of Alzheimer’s as well. The dangerous chemicals are so common, so prevalent, that we take them pretty much for granted and do not realize how truly hazardous they are. Onset of the resulting damage is usually so slow that we do not connect the dots between cause and effect. When you think of the extent of our exposure in homes, in gardens, on our lawns and golf courses, it is quite alarming, especially when you learn how very small the amount can be to cause real damage.
Some individuals are much more sensitive than others to such toxins. And there is often synergism between different chemical agents, so that a very minute exposure, called a sub-toxic dose, which causes no apparent harm, can set the stage so that a much later sub-toxic dose of an entirely different chemical can bring on the disease.
I just realized that although this blog is intended to be thought-provoking, hopefully leading readers to do further and more serious research, consulting with physicians, etc., and really was not intended to be promotional of our product, Catherine’s Choice™ Aloe Vera, it just so happens that aloe vera is an aid in detoxification as well as a leading natural anti-inflammatory!
It seems I can’t think about health matters at all without returning to aloe vera. I guess that is because events of my life convinced me that my late wife, Catherine, lived thirty good years after we discovered the benefits of the internal use of aloe vera, and that was at a time of serious health problems that did threaten her life.
I also can not help but attribute my own relatively youthful condition to the daily intake of Catherine’s Choice™ Aloe Vera Capsules. I often have 20 hour days and help in running six small businesses. I play wind instruments professionally, read a lot, follow the news closely, exercise up to 20 minutes two or three times a week (I know that isn’t much, but it is an improvement over the past), try to study Spanish and Internet Marketing, write TV advertising copy, party when possible, and in general am seldom idle, unless you consider sunbathing idling. I was born in 1924, which makes me
Your youthful octogenarian,
Warren
P.S. There is a lot more important information on the subject of the dangers of neurological disease at any age, including foods to avoid and foods to enjoy while protecting your nervous system. It is very important to minimize stress of all kinds. Take no unnecessary vaccinations, and be certain they really are needed.
One of my most important sources of information was the April 2009 issue of “The Blaylock Wellness Report” by Dr. Russell Blaylock, a nationally recognized board-certified neurosurgeon, health practitioner, author and lecturer. He attended the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his internship and neurosurgical residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Dr. Blaylock recently retired from his neurosurgical duties to devote his full attention to nutritional studies and research. He has authored three books on nutrition and wellness.
Dr. Blaylock previously served as clinical assistant professor of neurosurgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, and is currently a visiting professor of biology at the Belhaven College, also in Jackson.
The Blaylock Wellness Report is a publication of Newsmax Media, Inc. and Newsmax.com. It is published monthly at $54 per year and is offered online and in print. To subscribe call 1-800-485-4350 or e-mail wellnessreport@newsmax.com.
