Hello Again from the Young Octogenarian!
We are being lied to by the very people we should be able to trust! I have known this for a long time, and so have you if you ever thought much about it. Of course, these somewhat startling statements can convey different meanings to different people. Your age makes a difference in what this means to you, younger people tending to be less skeptical and more trusting of teachers and politicians, and believe me, this is very dangerous for the cause of Liberty. Perhaps some day I’ll write a blog about that, but for now I am talking about the general subject of our health and more specifically about the health of our circulatory system.
Of course, our general health depends on many things, such as heredity, about which we can do little or nothing, the little being to be aware of any inherited quirks that may need to have special consideration in life style and diet. For the most part, we play the cards we were dealt. But there is a tremendous amount we can do to achieve and maintain excellent health even if you have been lax in this area until now. It is almost never too late to make an improvement, often a drastic improvement, if you are serious enough about this subject, and it is well worth while to be or to become so.
There are, in fact, so many areas in which we can improve our health that very few, if any, achieve success in all of them. Do you maintain a proper diet? Can you even define one that is right for you, remembering the vast differences in diets around the world? Do you correctly supplement the diet? Are you even certain you know how? Do you know whom to trust for advice in this area? It is important to be cautious here, for often even experts are wrong for extended periods of time.
Diets and supplements are one area. Health is also affected by the amount and type of exercise you get and whether it is regular or sporadic. How about rest? Do you sleep well and long enough and on a regular schedule? What about stress? Both mental or emotional and physical stress evoke a physical response intended originally to enable “fight or flight” success in the immediate moment, but today is often maintained over long periods with very detrimental results on health.
And then there are the copious dangers of the modern world, which are of all sorts and come at us from all directions, even from sources we think are helping us maintain our health! Medical authorities can and do err on many occasions, and it is difficult for the layman to challenge them. Unfortunately, they are often misguided by those whom they trust, the giant, profit-motivated pharmaceutical corporations, who also have a large part in the funding of medical schools. Many true horror stories result from this condition of the establishment.
Please understand that I have great respect for physicians, most of whom do more good than harm. I have good friends who are medical or dental professionals. Mostly they agree that there are serious imperfections in their area of expertise. Many of them are working very hard to improve the situation. But now enter the politicians! When Government butts in with its always heavy-handed methods, we should beware.
Governments are always inefficient. Possibly their greatest efficiency is in waging war, and believe me, efficiency in war is seldom achieved. Great waste is the fact, no matter how skillfully managed available resources may be. It is the nature of the system and the situation.
In today’s political climate, there may be little we can do to keep control of our own health care once we are ill. We should do as much as we can to influence the political situation in the interest of maintaining individual rather than bureaucratic control, and that is the real crux of the various arguments, along with how to fund the increasing costs.
The best way to go is to stay well to the best of our ability. There are still many ways to do so, and in my blogs I will either reveal and/or explain as many as I can. I hope you will keep returning for updates. I will also provide links to other sources of important health information,
This blog turned out to be introductory to what I intended to write about. The introduction took all the time and all the space! Below is a source of what I intended to write about, and still intend to write about in future, as it is crucial to keeping people alive. Certain drugs now being prescribed that actually help subdue dangerous inflammation but have such severe and well-known side effects that patients die from them. What makes this criminal to me is that natural, inexpensive supplements can provide the same benefits without any of the danger, but these are ignored by most doctors. Not all, thank God.
Don’t wait to check out this link to an authoritative source of the life-saving information I referred to, especially if you have or think you have any problem with cholesterol and are using statin (cholesterol-lowering) drugs.
